This four (4) hour course created by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission course fulfills the 2024-2025 General Update continuing education (CE) requirements and must be completed annually by June 10th. GENUP must be completed by all provisional and non-provisional brokers after their first year of licensure who are not Brokers-In-Charge and/or do not have BIC eligible status. Said students are those who wish to renew their licenses on active status.

Tiny homes have been around North America for a long time, but it was the 2008 financial crisis and the subsequent recession that sparked renewed interest in tiny houses as an affordable housing solution. The economic downturn, combined with the desire for financial freedom and a simpler lifestyle, led to increased media coverage and public awareness of tiny houses. In the years following the recession, the tiny house movement gained serious momentum. While the brokerage community at large has not invested significant educational resources into the subject of tiny homes, consumers and even brokers are motivated to learn more. The recent trend to add accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to existing properties is yet another area of interest. This course is an effort to meet consumer and broker need to acquire information about tiny home basics.

The Post 301 – Broker Relationships & Responsibilities course is one of the three 30-instructional hour courses in the North Carolina mandatory Postlicensing (PL) education program. The primary objective of the courses is to provide instruction at a level beyond that provided in prelicensing courses on topics deemed to be of special importance in the active practice of real estate brokerage. Topics addressed in this course include: • a review of agency relationships in real estate residential and commercial sales and commercial property management transactions • a real estate broker’s legal duties to clients and customers • a step-by-step review and discussion of the functions and responsibilities of a real estate broker when working with property owners and buyers/tenants • a review of issues associated with transactions in progress when a broker leaves a brokerage company, • a review of selected license status and education issues.
